Nehanda is a highly-respected olympic gold-medalist who has the ability to move objects without touching them.
Nehanda is named after Nehanda Nyamhita who was a royal princess of the Mutapa dynasty of Southern Africa. She played a very big role in the succession of her brother who took over from Nyatsimba Mutota.
She helped him perform a ritual that would cement his place as ruler of the Mutapa empire and it also helped the success of the kingdom by increasing its reign and longevity.
Today Nehanda is known as a Shona powerful ancestral spirit called mhondoro. The role of this Spirit is to help people relay messages from the supreme being of the Shona people called Mwari and protect Mwari’s people. Nehanda is also well known for having helped lead the important liberation war against British settlers in Zimbabwe in 1896. The war was called Chimurenga. Nehanda’s spirit was so powerful that it lived on in the bodies of many humans for 500 years.
